These tracks are the product of almost 30 years of experience playing bass. If you've heard me play live or listened to my CD, The Low C# Theory, you'll likely recognize the essence of those grooves in the different melodic ideas in each sample.

Almost from the beginning, my goal has been to help the electric bass evolve and expand so I can continuously expand my ability to express myself musically. These tracks are designed to help you evolve and expand your ability to express yourself musically and to help you learn to groove more freely.

In my experience, one's ability to groove is affected by the following elements:

1. Ability to identify and amplify the characteristics that set you apart from others.
   
   

2. Ability to control the bass, i.e., consistent note length and tone / volume production.
   
   

3. Level of endurance and ability to resist fatigue - mental and physical.
   
   

4. Ability to maintain a continuous flow of notes, phrases and melodic ideas.
   
   

5. Acknowledgment of the essence of the music as a spiritual entity and the willingness to put aside ego to serve its needs.
   
   

6. The playing level and attitude of the drummer with whom you're playing.

To use these tracks most effectively, first listen through the tracks until you find one that catches your attention. Focus on it and absorb as much of the essence of the groove as you can - without playing along at first. Once you feel you understand the spirit of the melodic idea, begin working on it and continue working on it until you feel it has become familiar and automatic to play. Once you're comfortable with the track, start to consider the above-mentioned elements. You may be surprised at what you begin to hear in your own playing - good things - and things you might want to change.
